Of nukes and history

I have been following the nuclear talks with Iran for a long time.  Being a cold war kid I grew up in the shadow of Vietnam and i don't believe there was ever a day during the 70's when it wasn't mentioned on the news or in some discussion through out the day.  The men and women who fought in that war and Korea will always have my respect as well as the two great wars.  with that said I have a very unpopular position when it comes to Iran and a nuclear program.

at the end of the 70's when Americans were taken hostage in Iran I was only around 10 and thought we were on the verge of nuclear holocaust.  I remember the tv stations played a min-series called either the day or morning after.  it scared the hell out of a lot people who didn't understand all of the propaganda that went along with it all.  I know you want to know my opinion but hold on.

While I was at the University of AZ I took a class on Iran and left it realizing that like our own country they have their propaganda machine that does not necessarily represent the will of the people.  I was actually quite taken by the class and would like to visit their sometime.  With that all said I feel that we have no right to hinder another countries scientific growth.  Our nuclear program was born out desperation in wanting to win in the pacific theater of WW2.  Do I think that Truman should have dropped the bomb.  Hell no.  But I wasn't around at that time but we get to see the effects from the radiation.

Iran is a sovereign nation and have every right to have their own nuclear program.  This idea that we are the worlds police force is bullshit.  I used to believe that since we were the real last superpower, save for China, we had a responsibility to police.  Now I like to think I am bit smarter and grayer I see that we still have our own problems to worry about.  Not to worry about Israel, Iran.  Shit let them blow each other up.  I don't come to that thought lightly.  I have friends who live in Israel and are part of their armed forces.  the last thing I want is to see them hurt.  Yet, I don't see it as my fight.  I know we hold ourselves responsible fro Israel, pretty much because we made them.

Our history of being the only country to use an atomic weapon does not rank us as knowledgeable but as guilty of two of the worst destructions ever.  I think we should still research and use Atomic power until we can get the world on board for cleaner sources of energy.  but given coal based versus Nuclear.  I would opt fro nuclear.  I mean how else are we gonna get the toxic avenger.

Religion and Law

Lately I have been reading a book on Buddhism and Law and it has made me think about some of our history and laws that we have.  Hammurabi's Code was one of the first sources of law in our world.  but as we have evolved as a society many off shoots have been developed and incorporated into our cultures.  While I am reading this book I am entranced by a country that is so in grained in religion that it seeps into the laws of the land and it made me think of our own country.  We have a Republic at least some sort of semblance of one and we have some pretty screwed up rules but the most primal of those come from either human decency or some sort of spiritual text.

I believe in Science and there are rules within science as well thus categorizing it into a type of religion in my book.  I consider religion to be a group of people with alike ideals who submit to certain rules and regulations within itself.  therefore Science could be categorized as a religion in itself that it has a group of like minded people looking to achieve a better life or planet or such.

I really think we can move forward if we start to shed some of the older thinking and find something new.

Vaccines are good they help our immune systems I don't understand this need to not vaccinate children.  The amounts of mercury that might be in a vaccine is minuscule to the protection that a vaccine provides.  I never thought that we would see measles shine its face again but it did and due to the lack of immunization.  We can be sure that the medical community wants to keep people alive.  As a parent I for one want my kids to have every protection against some horrible disease that is out there.  A strong immune system will keep our kids healthy!!!

Ok nobody has said it but here it is This is my theory on the disappearances of the airliners.  Now you can call me a kook or whatever.  They flew into a micro black hole born out of the LHC finding the "God" particle.  Opening a universe within a universe can only lead to random fluctuations within time-space.

Je Suis Charlie

I need to rant about the Charlie Hebdo and Boko Haram problems that are going on.  We have always been the dog faced nation it's what we have now and will always be.  We need to be there for these people if we want democracy to survive bad things are happening not only over there but here as well, we are acting scared we need to look at how we change the world not through violence but by peaceful demonstration Civil Disobedience that is what changes the way things are not by fear and terrorism.  I support the French people and share in their grief over what simple minded people have done.  We need to educate people only with an education can you be dangerous to the status quo and seek the change that you want to see in the world.

New year, new attitude.

I was hit with a lot of stuff this week I found out that my ex-wife has had a daughter with her new husband and my boys now have a sister and I am pretty much out of their lives except for times when I get to see them.  I guess I have to accept that and acceptance can be really hard but this to shall pass.  I am have moved on and now I am ready to enjoy my new life I can feel a roller coaster ride coming on and I think it will be a good one.

I do have to rant on one thing that I found out.  I just read in a magazine that their are plans to drill to the center of the earth over in Europe.  A large part of me says that this is a bad idea.  Not just to the loss of life but what it might ultimately do to our planet.  I like to think of the planet as a living organism and drilling straight to the heart of it is really bad juju.  It's just my two cents take it or leave it.

I got Connor a video camera that is kind of like a GoPro so he can record stuff and hope fully he will.  It was weird My ex dropped off Ethan and took Connor away in the car so I visited with Ethan and he is doing really well and going to be wrestling soon.  I am so proud of them both.  I guess they got grounded for some reason and had their doors taken away from their rooms which I thought was kind of harsh.  But he wouldn't tell me they they got grounded?  I worry about them but they seem ok Ethan was pretty emotional just seeing me and kind of cried and said that he missed me and Connor  said he missed me and gave me a hug through the window as they drove off.  I really don't know what to think my head is spinning with all kinds of thoughts but I have to be faithful that things will shake out in the end.
